The Dais have a population around 1.07 million. They are mainly distributed in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Nationalities Autonomous prefecture, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous prefecture and the river valley and flatland of Lancangjiang River Basin.

Occupying a total area of 27 acres, the Dai Village is the first village you will visit after your  enter the park. Surrounded by water on three sides, the village is set off by exuberant trees. The Dai’s stilted bamboo houses are connected to the solemn Mian Temple by the zigzagging red sanded path. The architectural complex including the towering and magnificent White Pagoda, the elegant and exquisite Fengyu (wind and rain) Bridge, the Fengyu (wind and rain) Pavilion, the Well and the Bell Pavilion are full of rich folklore of the Dais, reproducing the  actual folk landscape of the Dai villages.

During the annual Water Splashing Festival period, many colorful folklore activities are organized, including lively elephant-foot shaped drum dance, graceful and charming Gaguang dance, the wedding performance of the Dais, dragon-boat races, throwing-bag contests, hearts-tying ceremonies and gaosheng (rockets) launching
